Asian American Federation

Established in 1989, the Asian American Federation (AAF) is a non-profit organisation based out of New York. They work to promote the voices of Asian Americans in the New York area. They do this by researching, advocating and directly servicing. The organization provides data on issues that affect the Asian American community and address the challenges by making policy recommendations. The AAF advocates with government officials, agencies and private philanthropists to implement their researched policies. The organization designs direct service programs that address the needs of the Asian American community. Using the money raised in the programs, they fund other organizations to help implement new policies more effectively. The Asian American Federation’s mission is to raise the influence and well-being of the pan-Asian American community through research, policy advocacy, public awareness and organizational development. In 2021 alone, the AAF accomplished a lot. They raised $4 million in funding to regrant to 30+ Asian-serving organizations and distributed $400 000 to Asian mental health agencies. Additionally, approximately 2 885 low-income seniors received emergency services and 1 000 community members were trained in safety techniques. 7 000 community members were educated on anti-Asian hate and 5 influential research reports were created on socio-economic events affecting the Asian-American community. In the future, the Asian American Federation wants to continue creating new policies and directly servicing New York’s Asian American community.
