Looking Back
Oct’21 - World Mental Health Day
October 21st is commonly recognized as World Mental Health Day. To recognize this day, CPSS Interact advocated for the importance of taking care of our mental health. Interact shared information about the origins of this day and the prevalence of the theme, “Mental Health in an Unequal World. Sharing various podcasts available for students as resources to learn more, Interact reached a total of 128 accounts.
INDIGENOUS WATER CRISIS
For the last month of the 2020/2021 school year, CPSS Interact shed light on the lack of access to clean water that the Indigenous Peoples in Canada face: the Indigenous Water Crisis. Hosting the “Run for Water” event using Strava, CPSS Interact had students track their distances walking/running/biking to raise money for Water First Canada, a charity educating Indigenous youth in Water Science. CPSS Interact continues to advocate for Indigenous Peoples’ basic rights to this day.


HUNGER/FAMINE
During the month of October, CPSS Interact shedded light on the prevalence of Hunger and Famine. Our primary initiative was a Food Drive, and we successfully collected over 450+ items while adhering to the strict COVID-19 precautions. All proceeds were donated to the Knights Table, a local food bank in Brampton. The second initiative was the 12-hour Famine, an event where participants were encouraged to fast for a span of 12 hours to raise awareness regarding hunger. This event successfully garnered the interest of over 40 interactors.
Nov ‘21 - International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women
November 25st commemorates the act of seeking justice for eliminating violence against women. To highlight the importance of this day, CPSS Interact advocated for why the issue is persistent in our world now. The theme of “Orange the World” was used to represent a brighter future free of violence against women and girls. Through our informative stories, we were able to reach 108 accounts.


Jan’21 - End of Semester : Student Wellbeing
As the semester was nearing a closure with summatives putting a mental strain on students, CPSS Interact shared valuable advice on how to take care of one’s well being during such stressful times. Sharing valuable advice about effective study habits and time-management skills, we are able to reach 133 accounts.






Feb ‘22 - Black History Month
As February is widely known as Black History Month, CPSS Interact shared various Instagram stories highlighting the theme, health and wellness. Interact celebrated various successful Black individuals, provided documentaries, podcasts, and book resources to learn more information. To further expand our outreach, students were encouraged to participate in a quiz, and a total of 135 accounts were reached.
Feb’22 - Animal Cruelty
Central Peel Interact’s focus of the month of February was animal cruelty. The club shared information on the importance of advocating for this issue, some fun facts, and some resources available for students. Interact also discussed the story of Irving, a dog who was victim to animal cruelty. Through our information Instagram stories, CPSS Interact reached a total of 67 accounts.






Mar ‘22 - International Women’s Month
In March 2022, Central Peel Interact celebrated International Women’s Month through numerous Instagram stories. We shared information about the history of this month, provided resources such as podcasts, books, movies, and documentaries to highlight women successes. Interact also encouraged students to participate in a word search activity which reached 94 accounts.
Mar’22 - #StopAsianHate - Vow of Silence
Central Peel Interact highlighted the campaign #StopAsianHate for the month of March 2022. To spread more awareness, the club discussed stories of several victims and statistics of this issue in Canada. Ending of, Interact shared information on how to help and combat Asian hate, reaching a total of 88 accounts.
